Additional Comments

    While reading The Member of the Wedding, sadness clenched my heart. Strong visual images used by McCullers were awe-inspiring. Researching McCuller's background gave a better understanding as to why the novel is so depressing. She lived a life filled with pain and suffering, that you could feel come out of her pen. Member of the Wedding may not have been one of her best works as far as enjoyment, but on a level of depression it was exceptional.
